Check Check….

Well it didn’t take that long to get back in the swing of things here on the show after a year plus lay over. I have been missing doing the show for months and months, and we came back stronger than ever. I called this show an “Impromptu” for a few reasons. I didn’t know what the set list would be, what the “theme” if any would be. I just didn’t know.

All I could think of is, just do what you do and don’t worry about it. Well, we did just that.

Show Starters

Thinking of my younger days of listening to Rock and Roll, I was reminded that one of my first pieces of vinyl was Aerosmith, and I loved “Back in the Saddle.” That was all I had to think of. We were back in the saddle for another go at this awesome medium called Random Access Radio.

We started off the show with some Classic Rock from Boston (Foreplay/Long Time) and kept that theme for a bit before getting into some cutting edge rock (more progressive Rock) than anything in Nickelback and Godsmack.

By the time we hit the hump, the question was, #1, is the host going to take that shot of JD on the return to the air (which I didn’t until the last 3 tracks) and was the Disco going to show its face. Nope, that didn’t happen either.

Tributes

I like tributes. In the past year we have seen many artists from the music world pass away. It saddens me that we lose iconic figures that provide us memories of years past by trying to moonwalk at age 35, or remembering being a child and watching The Monkey’s. This show had a tribute to the late Davey Jones, the Scorpions, and of course, Bruce Springsteen in the set list.

Who’s that?

Since moving to New Jersey and setting up camp here, I have been excited to see what would happen if the show ever added another voice to the show. We did that this week, when Beth (Intern Beth) stepped up to the mic and provided support for the show in some vocals, as well as keeping the chat moving over at UStream.tv. She was great to have on the show and the feedback was very positive seeing has on set.

Mission Accomplished

Since I started recording vocals, music, podcasts, or this show, I have always dedicated myself to the quality of the recordings, the music, the set-list, and the overall show that is delivered in the final product. This is one that after so long away from the microphone I can say that I am truly proud of and I am glad to say that RAR is “Back in the Saddle again.
